2. Manifesto of 'professional writing'
To me, participating in a professional writing course is extremely imperative to an overall business degree. Whether one is specializing in the field of accounting or economics, having the skills to communicate with others in the business world will prove useful in future situations. In fact, it can even be helpful in regular daily life. I anticipate on becoming a reliable and trustworthy financial advisor. In order to earn the trust and respect of clients, I must be able to communicate professionally and in turn, be taken seriously. With this being my first blog this semester, I hope you all take this opportunity to obtain that most that you can out of taking this course.

Blog Interview
For my interview on the subject of professional writing, I selected a family member for questioning.
The following are a list of questions asked and condensed repsonses. My aunt is a pediatrician at
a childrens hospital. The professional discourse was largely medical. I conducted the interview at
her home in Orlando, Fl. Because of the setting and the fact that it was I who was conducting the
questiong, the process was undergone with ease.
When it comes to writing professionally, what do you write about? Well, in my profession I am constantly
writing persrciptions (laughter) No, but seriously there are many times when a letter filled with pertinent
information has to be written to another physician. These letters usually take a professional and well spoken
tone. They are almost always typed, most of us have horrible hand writing (laughter). For instance, there was
a time when I had to negociate with a medical supplies company. Having been familiarized with several different
styles of writing in my college years, I was able to negociate the deal that I was willing to make with the supplier.
Communication and keeping in mind what the person on the other side, or the person who will be reading your
letter is thinking is crucial to any sort of business practice today.
Where do you write? Most of the time when I am writing something work related, I do so in my office. I am able to
get a lot of work done. My office computer includes a program on which my office assistants are able to compile
all of the information about clients for the day and transfer anything that needs my review and response to the
program.
Do you ever write for leisure? Ahhh, I do but not nearly as much as I would like to. Sometimes when there is a hard
situation to deal with at work, writing about it will make it easier to cope with.
Why do you write? Well, as I mentioned, it makes difficult circumstances easier to bear. In fact, it has been in my experience
that writing about a sick child that is terminally ill and progressively getting worse in my care will essentially put things into
a new perspective. After I write major thoughts down on paper, I reread them a few hours later. Coming back to my thoughts
and seeing them in a concrete form has often help me generate new ideas on how to treat a patient.
Who do you write for? If I am not writing for work at the hospital, then I am almost always writing for myself. To help clear my head
and organize my thoughts after a long day. When I was a kid I had a very imaginative mind. I could write short fictions all summer
long.
Thank you for taking the time to answer these questions for me. It really helps to see how important knowing how to communicate
not only on a professional level can be, but also within yourself.

Egoic Branding...by Karl Treacher
Notes on the article:
After reading the article, I can agree on a broad spectrum. The article states that our economy today, or the things that people
purchase, are based more on the need on the item then the glamour. I only can agree with this to a point. In the part where
the article uses the things that are important to a 15 year old girl in comparison with the market, I believe that this can still be seen
today. In fact, I would even go so far as to argue that the egoic needs of things is almost just as prominent now as it was in the 80s.
To back that up, just look to television. Reality tv shows and the images of sex appeal that abound many commercials. While a statistical
poll might show a slight decrease in the percent of the population that put an importance on material things, there are still many who do.
Think about this: many people of limited means may act or think differently if under different circumstances...
I think that your writing is outstanding. Very professional and well thought out. You seem to have no promblem using the wiki.
Tiffany
Amber, thank you for transcribing such an informative interview. Working with your aunt in a comfortable set and setting (important!), you were able to bring to light an important and often neglected relationship between writing and working. That is, writing can be a tool for reflection, healing, and problem-solving. I think we in 3250 could build on these insights as we form groups and determine the specific genres of writing we want to explore, rehearse, and produce for our major assignments.
